Season Look Back: Honoring our Marshals in 2023
December 8, 2023MoneyGram Haas F1 Team is known for being the “family” team, with a close-knit taskforce always going out of their way to make the sport more accessible and friendly.
During the 2023 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, the American marque made it their mission to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work of the marshals working at US races in Austin and Las Vegas.
Starting at the Circuit of The Americas, marshals were gifted bespoke race-branded bandanas, made solely for them, and distributed by Team Principal Guenther Steiner. Guenther made a surprise visit to the group during their Friday morning briefing, delivering his message of appreciation and thanks on behalf of the whole team, before spending time meeting marshals, taking photos and handing out bandanas.
It's the second consecutive year that Haas has been able to provide a small gesture of gratitude to the 600-strong team, with many marshals visiting the garage over the weekend to give their thanks back.
In Las Vegas, weather conditions were set to drop to as low as five degrees Celsius / 41 degrees Fahrenheit. For the passionate marshals working throughout the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, Haas once again created an exclusive gift, this time putting their welfare as the priority – introducing the ‘Viva Haas Vegas’ beanie hat.
A group of marshals joined the team at the garage during Thursday’s car presentation hour, where once again Team Principal Guenther Steiner was on-hand to meet and speak with the team.
With an off-set schedule going into the early hours, stark weather conditions compared to Austin, and a new track to work around, the marshals were working harder than ever to protect the Formula 1 paddock.
“Seeing the genuine respect and appreciation coming directly from Guenther Steiner and the whole MoneyGram Haas F1 Team was an uplifting moment for our marshalling community,” shared Bill Armitage, Head of Marshalling. “It was a very special experience for the marshals who were able to meet and interact with Guenther at COTA and Las Vegas.”
MoneyGram Haas F1 Team would like to thank all marshals working at events throughout the 2023 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
