Gene Haas Foundation Partners with IMechE Formula Student

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) has today announced Gene Haas Foundation as its Education Outreach Partner.
The partnership aims to inspire and develop the next generation of engineers, supporting more university teams to compete in Europe's leading student engineering competition, Formula Student. Previous participants of the competition have gone on to careers in Formula 1, motorsport, automotive, aerospace and advanced engineering.
The Gene Haas Foundation, which invests in education and workforce development across manufacturing, engineering and technical industries, provides scholarships, grants and industry partnerships that equip young people with the skills and experience needed for successful engineering careers.
Ahead of the announcement, the Early Careers team from TGR Haas F1 Team met many of the 2,500 students from 120 universities taking part in this year’s IMechE Formula Student on-site at Silverstone Circuit.
“If we want to develop the engineers who will power the next generation of innovation, we have to engage with young people early and give them opportunities to apply what they learn in real engineering environments,” said Claire Banner, Head of HR Legal (UK) and Talent Management at TGR Haas F1 Team. “Formula Student does exactly that. It gives students invaluable hands-on experience, develops the technical and teamwork skills that industry is looking for, and helps bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace. We're proud to support a competition that’s inspiring and developing the future talent our industry depends on.”
